Finding Yourself Again After Becoming a Mum

If you've ever caught your reflection and thought, "who is that?", this one's for you.

I'm Megan. I'm a Registered Nurse, the owner of All Aesthetics By Megan, and a mum of three. I'm writing this because I've felt it. That quiet, slow loss of self that creeps in somewhere between the night feeds and the school runs. And I know I'm not the only one.

The Quiet Loss of Identity

Nobody warned me about this part. I expected the sleepless nights, the love that knocks the wind out of you, the constant snacks in my handbag. But the part where I slowly forgot what I used to enjoy, what made me laugh, what my favourite outfit looked like before it was stained with milk and mashed banana? That part snuck up on me.

I became "Mum." It's a beautiful name. But it isn't my only one.

Why Putting Ourselves Last Becomes Automatic

As mums, we're wired to give. We give our time, our sleep, our last bite of toast, our patience, our energy. We do it without thinking. And before we know it, the to-do list for everyone else is a mile long, and ours doesn't exist at all.

I built All Aesthetics By Megan around a belief I hold close: mums deserve to feel good too. Not as a luxury. As a necessity. I started this business because I wanted to create the kind of space I needed when I was deep in the trenches of early motherhood. A space where you can sit, breathe, and just be yourself for a little while.

Small Steps Back to You

Finding yourself again doesn't mean making huge changes. It often starts with the smallest acts of remembering who you are.

Some gentle places to start:

  • Book the appointment you've been putting off

  • Wear the outfit that makes you feel like you (even if it's just to the school run)

  • Listen to your old favourite playlist while making dinner

  • Reconnect with a friend over coffee, no kids in tow

  • Do something with your hands that isn't laundry, dishes, or wiping noses

  • Look in the mirror and find something you love

Why a Treatment Can Be More Than Cosmetic

When mums book in with me, they often tell me afterwards that the treatment itself was only part of it. The rest? The hour of quiet. The conversation with another adult. The chance to sit still. The feeling of doing something just for them.

Whether it's teeth whitening, a cosmetic consultation, a tooth gem, or a skin treatment, every appointment at my Hastings clinic or Botanic Ridge studio is a small invitation for you to come back to yourself.

You don't need a reason. You don't need to wait for a special occasion. You don't need to earn it.

You Are Still in There

The version of you that existed before motherhood didn't disappear. She's still there, just buried under the laundry and lunchboxes. Sometimes all it takes is a small reminder to bring her back to the surface.

If you're a mum on the Mornington Peninsula who's been thinking about doing something for yourself, take this as your sign. I'd love to be part of your moment.

Come See Me

Book a treatment at my Hastings clinic or Botanic Ridge studio. I see mums from across the Mornington Peninsula, including Frankston, Cranbourne, and surrounding suburbs.

You deserve this. Truly.

From one mum to another, you're doing an amazing job.
