Whitening before the big day: getting the timing right

A lot of the whitening work I do happens in the lead-up to something. Weddings especially, but also milestone birthdays, engagements, big events people have been thinking about for months.

It's one of the nicest parts of the job. Someone tells me the date, we work backwards from there, and we get you sorted.

What the treatment actually is

It's a non-invasive, pain-free procedure to lift the natural stain build-up that comes from everyday life. Coffee, tea, red wine, food, time. I apply a whitening product to your teeth and use an LED light to improve the shade. That's it. No drilling, no needles, no fuss.

I offer two options depending on where you're starting from. A Standard treatment for people with mild to moderate staining who've had a whitening treatment in the last couple of years. And a Premium treatment for people with heavier staining, or who haven't had anything done for a while, or who want the most result from a single visit.

Not sure which one is right for you? Send me a message or give me a call before you book and I'll help you work it out. Most questions people have can be answered over the phone.

Timing for a wedding or event

This is the question I get asked most. When should I book in?

For most people, one treatment in the week of the event is the right call. Not the day before, not the morning of. Give yourself a few days so any temporary sensitivity has settled and you're not eating dinner around a treatment appointment.

If you've got heavier staining and you want the strongest result, the pattern that works well is two treatments spaced out. First one two to six weeks before the event, then a final treatment four to seven days out from the day. That gives the shade time to lift properly and lets you walk in on the day feeling ready.

That's it. Not months of planning, not a huge commitment. Just some straightforward timing.

Keeping the result between treatments

Whitening results last a good while but they're not permanent. Coffee and red wine will do their thing over time.

To hold your result between appointments, I've put together an at-home kit I genuinely swear by. Fully rechargeable LED light, a 6% hydrogen peroxide pen, everything you need to top up at home. I also stock the NuSkin AP24 whitening toothpaste, which I use myself and recommend to anyone who wants a low-effort daily option that actually works.

Both are available at the clinic and I'll show you how to use them if you're picking one up.

A few honest things worth knowing

Whitening does one thing well. It lifts natural stain build-up. It's not going to change the shape of your teeth or fix things it wasn't designed to fix, and I'll be straight with you about that when you ask.

If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or you've got existing dental work you're not sure about, mention it before we go ahead. Some things are worth checking first.

If you've got a date in mind

Give me a call or send a message and we'll work backwards from your event. Straightforward, no pressure, and you'll have a clear plan.
